Why should you get to know WhiteWitch?

Very difficult to write about oneself without sounding either pathetically self-deprecating or else big-headed... I'm pretty happy being me, but I find that doesn't make describing myself any easier! I'm an art school graduate, nowadays a practising artist in my spare time, and I also write fiction and poetry. Avid reader, art lover and traveller. I work at the Royal Botanic Gardens, Kew, a place I love despite its occasional quirks. After several jobs working for companies whose aim was to maximise their shareholders' profits, working for a major conservation organisation means a lot to me; I really appreciate the fact that what I do is contributing to something of real value in the world. I am fairly green politically and in my general world view, and love to spend time out of doors walking or cycling. I worked as a chef in my early twenties, and am still a pretty good cook.
Just got back from a dream holiday - which really was, too - in Cuba; fairly worn-out and still a bit jet-lagged, my mind full of amazing memories. Highlight overall was undoubtedly a day in the Sierra de Escambray national park; hiking along a river valley through sub-tropical forest, botanizing to my heart's content; hummingbirds, tocororos and giant yellow butterflies (bigger than the hummingbirds by a good margin) flying overhead; stopping at one point for a glorious swim in a river pool under a waterfall overhung with bromeliads and orchids... finally an exhilerating if very dusty ride out of the reserve on the back of a truck (roads in Cuba are patchy to say the least and those in the national parks, on the evidence of this one, horrendous!).
And, by damn, Britain feels cold and bleak after that...

She describes her ideal match thus:

My ideal match is an intelligent, articulate man who is healthy, active and creative and who shares a good proportion of my cultural interests. You don't have to share them all - I like to be introduced to new things, and I don't want to live in your pocket. He is an optimist who enjoys his life; his politics are at the green end of the spectrum - if he isn't a green, at least let him not be actively anti... He loves the natural world, is physically fairly fit and enjoys being out of doors. He is open-minded and not dogmatic - please don't try to impose your views on me, as I am pretty independent! He won't try to run my life, and doesn't need me to run his. He is honest, good-hearted, and utterly reliable. He has a great smile and attractive hands, has a wide range of interests, isn't a slob domestically speaking (but not fanatically tidy either!) - oh, and ideally he'll love my cooking...
